The
Tierney family came to this beautiful area in 1848. Don,
along with his family, are the third generation of Tierneys
to farm this land for many years. As development encroached
the farm, Don had a vision as to how he wanted to see it
developed. He knew he wanted to preserve the special place
on top of the hill.
From this hilltop you can see Lake Mendota, the state capitol
and the Madison skyline as well as beautiful rolling countryside.
As a young child, his family watched the fireworks on the
Fourth of July from this vantage point. Now this spectacular
view can be enjoyed by everyone coming to Ashlawn Settlers
Park in Southbridge.
Neighborhood
parks have become a passion for Don. He wants to see athletics
become fun again. He wants to build an environment for pickup
games in the
community, places where people can have fun
and not have to travel so far. You can see this goal was
accomplished as you enter the parks in Southbridge and Savannah
Village. There are kids playing in the sand or on the playground
equipment, while others are playing tennis, basketball or
rollerblade hockey on the nearby sport courts. Others may
be out walking, enjoying the serenity and peace as they
gaze over Lake Mendota or strolling through the covered
bridge into the breathtaking arboretum. A wonderful place
to relax and renew the sense of getting back to nature.
Don's
strong sense of community and attention to detail guides him as
he creates special places for you to build your dream home in
Waunakee's beautiful south corridor!
